Carter Knapp, t-LMHC
Carter is accepting new clients!
Carter Knapp will be a t-Licensed Mental Health Counselor in May after graduating with her Master’s degree from the University of Iowa. She attended the University of Northern Iowa for her Bachelor of Arts in Psychology with minors in Mental Health and Criminology. She will see individuals ages 15+.
Carter approaches counseling with the belief that we are all made up of different parts, and that every part has a role worth care and understanding. Rooted in a trauma-informed perspective, she primarily operates from an Internal Family Systems (IFS) lens, which honors the complexity of each person’s inner world and helps us build compassionate relationships with all parts of ourselves. In addition, Carter incorporates Compassion-Focused Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT). Her goal is to provide a collaborative and nonjudgmental space where people feel safe to explore and gain insight into themselves, while also learning tools to navigate daily life.
Outside the therapy room, Carter enjoys spending time with her dog, going on walks, discovering new restaurants, and attending live music shows.
